FFTA is a leading non-profit association in North America with a legacy of advancing best practices and advocating for policies that support families in their care and treatment for children. With roots in treatment foster care going back over 35 years, today FFTA has nearly 500 member organizations, from 47 states and multiple provinces in Canada, delivering a full array of services to families across formal and informal mental health and child welfare systems.
“As an association working across the health and human service sector, FFTA has a unique responsibility to support the organizations and individuals that support families in their communities. Having a diverse and representative Board of Directors is critical to leading FFTA’s strategic direction.” —Mechele Shipman, FFTA Board President.
FFTA’s Board Development Committee led a robust recruitment and vetting process and was fortunate to consider several highly qualified individuals nominated from across the United States. With the election of these new board members, FFTA brings decades of experience and leadership in family- and community-based care, as well as building upon FFTA’s focus to expand representation of those with personal lived experience to the FFTA Board of Directors.
“Our board is where the important work of supporting our members begins, and we do this by leveraging collective knowledge, proven solutions, innovation, and inclusion to advance wellness for all families and communities. I’m confident that Renay, Gianna, Nancy and Nichole will complement our existing board and will certainly enhance FFTA’s role as a leader in the health and human service sector.”—Ryan Dowis, FFTA Executive Director
